Addressing Health Disparities
This interactive course aims to guide an understanding of holistic community solutions that can increase equity, improve systems of care across the community, develop networks and trust, strengthen communication channels and implement city-wide protocols and practices to improve access to care, coordination of care between primary and specialist and individual knowledge of health. 1.5 CME Credits and 1.5 ANCC Contact Hours offered.
Hypertension management and pre-diabetes prevention
The Maryland Area Health Education Center Program with its three regional centers, AHEC West, Central Maryland AHEC, and Eastern Shore AHEC, are collaborating with the Maryland Department of Health’s Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, to enhance screening for hypertension and prediabetes. Maryland AHECs also provide hypertension management and disease prevention training. To aid in this process, the MAHEC Program is offering a FREE web based Tutorial for physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Please click “Go to the course” button to enter the Tutorial.
CMAHEC aims to provide free CEUs that might be valuable to the community’s provider network to help eliminate health disparities.
Currently the National AHEC Organization is providing a free online 1.5 credit hour class for physicians, nurses, and pharmacists to learn about HPV vaccinations and the need for a strong recommendation in girls and boys 11-12 years old. The course includes up to date information on HPV, the vaccine, and ways to successfully communicate with patients and parents about it and is provided by faculty from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
