Interdisciplinary Health Education

The CMAHEC facilitates a Interdisciplinary Health Education Committee (IHEC) with members representing diverse health disciplines. IHEC members may be any interested health professionals, nominated by a local health professional organization, or AHEC Board Member.

The Central Maryland AHEC is partnering with University of Maryland, Baltimore to assist in interdisciplinary training such as opioid response strategies. CMAHEC is a certified Overdose Response Program in partnership with the Maryland Department of Health. To date CMAHEC has helped dispense prescriptions of the life saving drug Narcan to health professional students at UMB as part of  inter-professional education (IPE) Overdose Response Training. Other IPE training includes the AHEC Scholars Program, trauma informed care, and cultural competency.
